Insurance Appraisals

WHAT CAN I DO IF I CANNOT COME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY?

The policy mechanism for resolving disputes with your carrier is called Appraisal and it is basically insurance parlance for arbitration.

Appraisal is a binding contractual process available to settle valuation disputes between policyholders and their insurance companies when they fail to agree on the amount of loss or the scope of damages. Either the policyholder or the insurance company may initiate the appraisal clause, which is done in writing. We can assist you in drawing up the necessary paperwork if Appraisal is the appropriate way to resolve your claim.

Your insurance company will be compelled to hire a person who does not work directly for the carrier. The company insurance adjuster you have been dealing with regarding your claim cannot represent your insurance company in Appraisal.

Once the appraisers are selected, they work together to select a competent, disinterested and impartial individual to serve as umpire. The umpire renders a binding decision when the two appraisers fail to agree on the value of property or the amount of a property loss.

JML Adjusting Services, LLC specializes in the Appraisal process and this process may be a remedy to resolve any dispute you are currently having with your insurance carrier.
